Our vision
Holos is a living field—a regenerative ecosystem of places, practices, and people.
Our vision is the collective realization of innate wholeness, supported by holotropic tools and integrative practices that restore coherence in body, psyche, and spirit.
It is a movement that inspires more harmonious ways of living—rooted in ancient wisdom and applied through modern, practical tools.
Through land stewardship, personal transformation, and community-based learning, Holos offers a living path of reconnection—where people remember their power, rediscover belonging, and align with the source that sustains life.
Beneath it all, Holos offers a path—one that unfolds through:
Places — our flagship sanctuary in Costa Rica, upcoming in British Columbia and Boulder Colorado.
Practices — Holotropic tools for integration and inner alignment.
People — seekers, stewards, and storytellers walking together.
Holos is designed as a living system. What begins here grows: into new nodes, new stories, and new ways of being.
We invite those who resonate to join us in building a culture of wholeness.
The Heart of Holos
“What would the world look like if we created from a place of already being whole?”
That question sparked the vision of Holos—a sanctuary and community rooted in nature, devoted to healing, and designed for the changing times.
But before the first seed was planted or a bamboo beam raised, Holos began with a song… and a waterfall.
At 18, Ian-Michael Hébert left Alaska and hitchhiked south. One day, behind a waterfall in Mexico, he had a transcendent, unitive experience.
From that day forward, he carried a vision—to build a place where others could remember their wholeness, too.
He went on to study eco-resort design and counseling psychology, eventually helping rebuild the Esalen Institute. That work caught the attention of Stanislav Grof, who invited Ian-Michael to create a retreat center. But instead of California, Ian suggested Costa Rica.
Before the project could launch, Stan suffered a stroke. The dream paused—but it didn’t end.
Soon after, Ian-Michael visited the Diamante Valley: fertile, wild, and echoing with waterfalls. There, beside the river, He knew. This was the place.
Since then Holos has shaped into not just an aspirational project, but a realized regenerative village and sanctuary. What many sustainable communities dream of, Holos has already accomplished: protected land, functioning infrastructure, aligned community, and a growing culture of transformation. This is not shared with hubris, but as living proof that vision, when rooted in right relationship, becomes reality.
Through pandemic setbacks and bold leaps, he united seven farms to form Holos. Since then:
65+ retreats held
6,000+ trees planted
Honeycomb-inspired bamboo structures built
Community, water, and food systems created
A regenerative village began to thrive
Holos is a sanctuary for those awakening to a different way of being.
A village where ceremony meets soil, music meets movement, and your soul finally gets to breathe.
If you’ve been searching for a place to root—in body, mind, and spirit—we’re building it.
Right here. Come walk with us.
Looking ahead, the Holos vision continues to take root.
From our mothership sanctuary in Costa Rica, new sites are emerging in British Columbia and Boulder—each carrying a unique essence.
Together, they form a constellation of Holos Sanctuaries.
